SHERMAN, Texas (July 6th, 2024) – The Sherman Shadowcats fell on Saturday night 19-17 against the Rhinos.

Jacob Broussard (Centenary) led the Shadowcats on the mound as he delivered a solid start going five innings, allowing two hits and no earned runs.

The Shadowcats bats had his back as they took a 10-0 lead going in to the fifth as Korson Hastings (Trinity) and Gavin Speirs (Howard College) both hit a homer to left field to set a spark under the offense.

Texarkana exploded, scoring all 19 of their runs in the final five innings, most notably from an eight run seventh inning to go ahead 19-12 after the top of the ninth.

Sherman was looking for a rally in the bottom of the ninth. They found five runs after Anderson Acinger (LSU-Shreveport) hit a bomb to left field, scoring three runs and keeping the Shadowcats hopes alive. After two additional runs the Shadowcats brought it within two and had runners on second and third with Hastings up to bat. Hastings was working a count with plenty of foul balls and a strike three was called and all hope was lost as the Rhinos closed to the game out winning 19-17.

The Shadowcats fall to 13-23 as Texarkana secures the series win, advancing to 15-20.

Sherman takes on the Rhinos for the series finale on Sunday July 7 at 7:05 p.m.
