SHERMAN, Texas (July 4th, 2024) – The Sherman Shadowcats lost a close battle against the Rhinos on Thursday night 6-4.

The Shadowcats got on the board first as Anderson Acinger (LSU-Shreveport) hit a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0 after the first inning.

Texarkana answered back in the fourth as Jackson Glymph (Blinn College) hit a sacrifice fly to center field tying the game at 1-1.

The Rhinos carried into the fifth as back to back RBI singles from Neil Jansen (San Jose State) and Alex DeLeon (Hendrix) made the score 3-1 in favor of Texarkana.

Texarkana scored once more in the eighth as Gabe Natividad (San Joaquin Delta College) hit an RBI single to extend the Rhino lead to 4-1.

The Shadowcats finally had an answer in the bottom of the eighth as Easton Ford hit a two RBI double which made it 4-3 Rhinos still on top.

Sherman was looking to keep it a one run game going into the ninth but the Rhinos had different plans as they hit back to back RBI triples from Sloan Laird (Oklahoma Christian) and Glymph to put it out of reach for the Shadowcats making the score 6-3.

The Shadowcats scored one run in the bottom of the ninth as Zach Henry hit an RBI groundout but it was too little too late and the final score ended up at 6-4, Rhinos win.

Sherman falls to 12-22 while the Rhinos pull ahead to 14-19.

Three more games will be played in the series between the Rhinos and Shadowcats. First pitch is set for 7:05 on Friday, July 5.
