Shawn Counts

Shawn Counts, a native of Tom Bean, Texas has been the Head Coach at Austin College since 2022. He previously served as an assistant coach at Grayson College from 2008-2018.  During his time at Grayson, he helped develop 25 athletes who have gone on to play within Major League Baseball organizations as well as 11 players who have had service time or are still on Major League rosters. He helped guide the Vikings to the Junior College World Series in 2011. 

Grayson won four consecutive conference titles while Counts worked as an assistant, and made nine consecutive NJCAA Region V tournament appearances.  Counts left Grayson for Austin College after the 2018 season where he served as an assistant for 3 years. Since becoming the head coach Counts helped lead Austin College to upticks in both overall wins and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victories, as well as coaching three players to All-SCAC accolades. Along with his experience at both Grayson and Austin College, he also previously served as head coach for the Melville Millionaires in Saskatchewan, Canada. He led the Millionaires to their first ever Western Canadian Baseball League championship in 2013, a year in which Counts was also named Baseball Canada WCBL Coach of the Year.

Jacob Rhame

Jacob Rhame, a former Professional Major League Baseball Pitcher, attended Guyer High School in Denton, Texas, and Grayson College in Grayson County Texas. He was chosen by the LA Dodgers in the sixth round of the 2013 MLB Draft. In 2017 the New York Mets acquired Rhame. Rhame made his Major League Debut in 2017 in a scoreless outing against the Houston Astros. In 2018, Rhame made the Mets Opening Day Roster. WELCOME COACH RHAME!!!
