SHERMAN, Texas (August 8, 2024) – The Sherman Shadowcats took down the Joplin Outlaws by the score of 6-3 on Thursday night. The win propels the Shadowcats playoff chances as they’ve won the last four games.

JB Brzezicki went five innings for the Shadowcats as he got the start on the bump. Brzezicki gave up just one run as he was successful to get out of many jams, leaving a total of eight runners on base.

The Shadowcats pulled out front in the second as Tyson Woodland (Centenary) and Tanner Reaves (LSU) hit back to back RBI singles to go up 2-0.

Joplin responded in the fourth with a run coming from a Levi Masloski (Missouri Baptist) RBI double but thats all they could muster as they left two on and cut the deficit to 2-1.

Sherman put on a show in the home half of the fourth as they scored four runs as Easton Ford (Redlands CC) and Woodland each hit an RBI single, Matt Herrera (Centenary) came home on an error, and Ryan Sessions (Arkansas-Monticello) scored on a wild pitch to make the score 6-1 in favor of the Cats.

The Outlaws were able to eke out two runs in the final five innings as Jacob Eccles (Southwestern Univ.) pitched lights out for Sherman. The position player pitched the final four innings of the game while giving up two hits and two runs to secure the save in a 6-3 win for the Shadowcats.

Sherman maintains their fourth place spot with two games remaining and their magic number down to 1.

The Cats look to clinch on Friday August 8, 2024 against the Outlaws at home with the first pitch set at 7:05 p.m.
