Sherman, Texas (July 17, 2024) – The Sherman Shadowcats dropped the series opener against the Piney Woods TimberHogs 9-6 on Wednesday night.
The Shadowcats pulled ahead first as Jaylan Prince (A&M Texarkana 21’) hit a three-run homer to take a 3-0 lead after the first inning.
The game then rolled scoreless until Alex Rangel (DC Brookhaven) hit an RBI single to take a 4-0 lead for Sherman.
Piney Woods found their zone as they scored all nine of their runs in the final five innings of play as the Shadowcats only tagged along two, each from solo home runs. Gavin Spiers (Howard College) went yard in the fifth while Anderson Acinger (LSU-Shreveport) hit his bomb in the sixth.
The TimberHogs took the win 9-6 over the Shadowcats.
Game two and the series finale will be played Thursday July 18 with a 7:05 first pitch.
