SHERMAN, Texas (July 27th, 2024) – The Sherman Shadowcats win the series three to one as they swept the double header on Sunday night. They won game one 10-9 in walk-off fashion, and won game two in a 10-0 shutout.

Game One

Joplin jumped out in front early as they put one run in the top of the first. Sherman quickly responded, scoring one run off of an Easton Ford (Redlands CC) sacrifice fly.

The Outlaws scored a five spot in the top of the second after the Shadowcats walked five batters to make it 6-1.

Sherman found four runs in the bottom of the second as all nine batters came up to bat to bring it to a 6-5 ball game, Joplin on top.

The third and the fourth went scoreless before the Shadowcats scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth from a Ryan Sessions (Arkansas Monticello) two RBI single to take a 7-6 lead.

Joplin took the lead back as they scored a run in the top of the sixth and followed with two runs in the sixth to lead 9-7 going into the seventh inning.

Due to the double header the game was limited to seven innings barring extras. 

The Shadowcats found a late game rally as they scored three runs as Sessions hit a walk-off two RBI single to win game one 10-9.

Game Two

The Shadowcats took over in game two as the pitching was electric. Tyler Ivey (Astros) became the first former Major Leaguer to play in the Mid America League and delivered a three strikeout first inning.

Sherman got on the board in the first as they scored two runs, as Sessions came home on an error and Ford hit an RBI single to go up 2-0.

Ethan Nixon (Austin College) came through in the middle innings for Sherman on the mound as he delivered five strikeouts and gave up no runs.

The Shadowcats scored three runs in the fifth as Ford hit a two run bomb and Matt Herrera (Centenary) smoked an RBI double to take a 5-0 lead.

Sherman kept pouring as they scored five runs in the sixth to put an exclamation point on the shutout victory.

The Shadowcats advances to 22-31 while Joplin falls to 29-27.

Sherman takes on Fort Smith next on Tuesday, July 30.
