SHERMAN, Texas (June 20th, 2024) – The Sherman Shadowcats walked off the Flying Bison winning 9-8 on Friday night after scoring seven runs in the last two innings.

Scoring would not start until the top of the fifth as Abilene plated four runs making it 4-0.

The Shadowcats answered in the bottom of the fifth as Hudson Parker (Texas Tech) smacked a two RBI double that cut the Abilene lead to 4-2.

After a scoreless sixth and seventh Abilene came out hot in the eighth as Seth Werchan (Univ. of Texas) smoked a two-run home run, followed by an error that brought home Tysaac Noland (Stephen F. Austin) to make the score 7-2.

In the bottom of the eighth, Sherman fought back as they scored four runs off of two ground rule doubles hit by Dillon Flores (St. Edwards) and Ryan Sessions (Redlands CC) to bring it to 7-6 going into the ninth.

Abilene pulled ahead once again with a run in the top of the ninth after an RBI single hit by Will Magids (Texas Tech) making the score 8-6.

Sherman pulled off an upset after rallying for three more runs, coming from an RBI hit by pitch drawn by Jacob Cruz (Navarro) setting up Easton Ford (Redlands CC) with the bases loaded as he hit a 2 RBI walk-off single to win the game.

The Shadowcats improve to 8-11 while Abilene falls to 17-7. First pitch for game two on Friday, June 21st is set at 7:05 with fireworks to happen after the game concludes.
