SHERMAN, Texas (June 21st, 2024) – The Sherman Shadowcats fell 11-5 against the Flying Bison on Friday night, tying the series one a piece.

The Shadowcats fielding troubles in the top of the first allowed Abilene to score unearned runs two runs off of three errors, making the score 2-0.

Sherman bounced right back, scoring two runs of their on as Hudson Parker (Texas Tech) smacked an RBI double, followed by a Kaleb Castillo (Western Texas College) RBI single to tie the game 2-2.

Abilene plated another run in the top of the second as Jack Cue (Cisco College) reached on an error, then scored on a wild pitch to put Abilene ahead 3-2.

The Shadowcats answered once again, tying the game back up after Alex Rangel (Dallas College Brookhaven) scored to make it 3-3.

The Flying Bison brought in a run in the top of the fourth after Will Magids (Texas Tech) hit an RBI double to take the lead back, 4-3.

After Sherman couldn’t answer in the bottom of the fourth as Abilene scored another in the top of the fifth. Tyler Garritano (Texas State) grounded out, but scored Cue to notch an RBI and make the score 5-3.

Abilene kept rolling in the top of the sixth as Samson Pugh (Texas State) hit a two RBI single to put the Flying Bison in front 7-3.

The Flying Bison followed a scoreless seventh with three runs in the top of the eighth. Seth Werchan (Univ. of Texas) hit an RBI single, followed by Pugh, who shredded a two RBI double for some insurance runs putting Abilene ahead 10-3.

Sherman made an attempt at a comeback but came up short as they only plated two runs in the bottom of the ninth from back to back RBI singles from Cayden Earnhart (East Texas Baptist) and Ryan Sessions made the final score 11-5, Abilene.

The series is now split, so whoever wins on Saturday, June 22, wins the series. Sherman falls to 8-12, while Abilene moves to 18-7. First Pitch is set for 5:05 with a concert by Logan Beard to follow after the game concludes.
